Our Impact

In addition to funding pediatric cardiology surgeries for low-income children, the David Ortiz Children’s Fund has provided:

• Detection and screening for more than 1,600 children.

• Support for a regular rural outreach and detection program in the Dominican Republic.

• Child-life specialist support for more than 4,000 children.

• Specialized pediatric cardiac care training for 12 New England area hospitals.

• Extended training for hundreds of emergency workers, to improve pediatric cardiac case outcomes.

• An improved diagnostic space for children visiting the Mass General for Children Hospital ER.

• A pediatric cardiology family support group at MGH, and

• Through our Medical Advisory Board, a pipeline for sharing best practices from the best institutions in New England to improve care provided to children in the Dominican Republic .
