David Ortiz
Co-Founder, David Ortiz Children's Fund
Baseball Hall of Fame member, Three-time World Series Champion and former World Series MVP David Ortiz, affectionately known as “Big Papi,” is an MLB studio analyst for FOX Sports. Inspired by a trip to the Dominican Republic’s CEDIMAT Hospital, Ortiz founded the David Ortiz Children’s Fund in 2007 to provide support for children who can’t afford the critical cardiac services that they need. He frequently cites saving lives as better than hitting home runs and winning World Series Championships.
Throughout his career, Ortiz earned 10 All-Star Game selections and seven Silver Slugger Awards, amassing 541 home runs, 2,472 hits and 1,768 RBIs. Ortiz retired in 2016 and as a tribute to his success in Boston, the Red Sox retired his jersey (No. 34) in 2017.
